Sigur Ros' Jónsi has been confirmed to soundtrack the score for new TV show Manhattan, alongside long-term partner Alex Somers.
The show will centre around the race in the 1940s to build the first ever atomic bomb in New Mexico. It will focus on the lives of the scientists and the ever increasing lies and espionage that begins to infiltrate their family and personal lives. It is from the same team that wrote Chasing Nashville and are working on the American remake of French drama, The Returned.
It marks the first TV score debut for Jónsi, who previously worked on Cameron Crowe's movie We Bought a Zoo. Once again it sees him paired up with Alex Somers, who has previously worked on the production of Jónsi's compositions and is known for the pair's collaboration Riceboy Sleeps.
Meanwhile Sigur Ros recently featured in an episode of Game of Thrones in which they perform as minstrels in the Lion & the Rose episode (better known as The Purple Wedding). They also took the time to put their own spin on the series' anthem of tragedy 'The Rains of Castemere', previously performed by The National.
