The music mogul is said to have tried to convince Adele to be a mentor on the show, but when she turned him down due to prior commitments, he asked her to perform instead.
A source told the Daily Star: “Simon is desperate to get Adele involved on this year’s show. There’s no denying Adele is the biggest singer in the world right now and Simon wants her to appear on both the UK and US X Factors. He couldn’t get her for the judges’ houses stage, so he now wants her to sing with one of the contestants on the grand final in December. The final may be four months away but Simon knows he needs to move quickly to make sure Adele’s free. She is a massive fan of the show and even went to watch the US X Factor auditions earlier this year.”
