Sinead O'Connor says her marriage was like living in a "coffin".
The Irish singer wed Barry Herridge in Las Vegas on December 8, but announced she was ending the union just 16 days later.
Sinead revealed that she felt the whirlwind romance was doomed from the start.
"It felt like I was living in a coffin. It was going to be a coffin for both of us and I saw him crushed," she told British publication The Sun.
"The whole reason I ended it was out of respect and love for the man."
The star claimed on her blog that their marriage was sabotaged by the interference of other people.
However, she also admitted that her hunt for cannabis on their wedding night may have scared her new husband.
"We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous," she confessed. "I wasn't scared — but he's a drugs counsellor. What was I thinking? Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened — that kind of messed everything up a bit really."
Sinead is now hoping to end her marriage as quickly as possible.
The process can take up to four years to complete in Ireland, but the star may return to Vegas to speed up the process.
"In my experience it is easier to have a marriage annulled after just a few weeks or a few months because it's easier to prove it wasn't properly thought through," A legal source told British publication The Mirror.
"So if a couple are asking for an annulment after a matter of days it would seem they definitely hadn't thought things through. There is also a route of going back to the US and paying for a quickie divorce."
