Sophie Monk: `Engagement was too hard, too fast`

Monk, 31, who had claimed that Jimmy - 20 years her senior - was “the one”, added: “I just got carried away, LA is not reality and you get a bit excited.”

Monk announced the engagement from her home in Los Angeles earlier this year, saying that she and Esebag had know each other for a long time as friends but had agreed to marry after dating for just three months.

Speaking to Sydney-based radio show 2DayFM, she added that she had become closer to her brother since the split, and compared them with Angelina Jolie and her brother.

“It’s hilarious, we’ve been watching movies in bed and falling asleep in the same bed and I think, ‘this is very Angelina of us’. He’s my best friend in the world.”
