2009 was a momentous year for Spandau Ballet and 2010 looks like being just as huge.
Spandau will play their first ever festival in 2010, a landmark for a band rejuvenated by 2009s Reformation Tour, firmly establishing themselves in the modern pop fraternity.
The band were announced this morning as the latest addition to the Isle of Wight Festival for 2010. They join Jay-Z, Pink, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, Calvin Harris, Friendly Fires and many more for the now traditional opener to the Festival season.
In the 80s, the only festivals to play were for rock bands, says Spandaus Gary Kemp, We played clubs, then arenas and stadiums on our own so this will be our first multi-artist event since Live Aid. Were really looking forward to being part of it, playing outdoors in the summer is another new chapter for Spandau. And we always like to indulge, I hear its a great place to have a good time!
The boys will perform on the Festival's main stage on Sunday June 13th at Seaclose Park in Newport. The rejuvenated event is now one of the highlights of the live year, with the usual early summer fine weather kicking off the packed festival calendar in style.
Expect the usual mix of music and good times from one of the best reviewed live bands of 2009 and stand by for more summer performances to be announced.
