Actor Reeve Carney has beat of competition from the likes of Robert Pattinson to be cast as Jeff Buckley in a new biopic about the late singer.
Carney recently appeared in the Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
The as-yet-untitled film, directed by Jake Scott, has been approved by Buckley's mother Mary Guibert and will include songs from the late singers personal archive, Collider reports.
In a statement, Guibert said: We are over the moon that Reeve has agreed to take on this challenging role. I've seen him perform several times.
"He's been getting ready for this all his life. It certainly doesn't hurt that he looks so much like Jeff.
Scott added: "We are excited to have found in Reeve the perfect combination of musical prodigy, impish charm, innate intelligence and sensitivity to play Jeff."
127 Hours star James Franco, Robert Pattinson and James Marsden have been linked to play the lead role.
