Stephen Fretwell, was born in Scunthorpe in 1981, a fact that belies the maturity and worldliness of his song-writing.
These days, he's mostly resident in Manchester, but he liked New York so much he decided to make his second album there in 2007, the critically acclaimed Man On The Roof.
In a year where the fairer sex dominated the headlines, Stephen Fretwell was quietly picking up stellar review after stellar review. It may not have made front page news that a wry-witted, irreverent northern lad released an exceptional album, but Fretwell chalked up an impressive wodge of praise for his second solo outing including an Ivor Novello nomination.
2008 saw Stephen Fretwell join The Last Shadow Puppets for a number of promotional performances including 'Later With Jools Holland' and Jonathan Ross TV performances.
After enjoying huge success with Man On The Roof and his debut album Magpie, Stephen is currently concentrating on writing material for his next album.
