The QI presenter was given the honour in recognition of his large amount of Twitter followers and he even wrote a message on the social networking site telling his fans about it.
He wrote: 'It's taken me 53 years, but today I got my first Scout badge. For IT.'
He was among the stars that received a badge in the Scouts birthday honours list.
Speaking about the Scouts, Fry added: 'Scouting connects people who would otherwise have no reason to be friends.
'The standards of the Scouting movement are as important today as they ever were - you have to be kind, be considerate, be thoughtful and you have to push yourself.
'If there's any better advice for any young person, I've yet to hear it.'
