Stephen Fry will star in a BBC adaptation of The Borrowers, to air over Christmas.
Fry will be joined by Victoria Wood and ex-Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston, the BBC reports.
Fry will play evil Professor Mildeye, Wood Grandma Driver, and Eccleston Homily, the father of teenage Borrower Arrietty.
Ben Stephenson, controller of BBC drama commissioning, said of the adaptation: "[It is] a brilliant and bold contemporary version of this classic tale with all the charm of the original but with a thrilling, moving and modern sensibility."
Ben Vanstone, a writer on Merlin, will contribute the script.
Other cast members include Robbie Sheehan of Misfits fame, Aisling Loftus, Sharon Horgan and Shaun Dooley.
Written by Mary Norton, The Borrowers was first published in 1952, and was given the Hollywood treatment in 1997, starring Jim Broadbent and John Goodman.
Filming is due to start in the last week of June.
