SUPER FURRY ANIMALS have said they won't allow any ballads on their new album.
The Welsh rockers revealed that they have banned all slow love songs from their upcoming ninth studio album, Dark Days/Light Years.
Speaking to the London Lite, lead singer Gruff Rhys said the group had been very picky about what would and would not go on the follow-up to 2007's Hey Venus!.
He said: "This is a riot record. We decided to ban ballads. There's only one slow number, which actually isn't slow at all.
"Everyone has a veto [on instruments], so if something causes distress for one person, it's out. It's going to be quite a difficult album to play live."
He added that the band will only play outdoor shows for the time being because they don't want to "endanger the public" by playing the "high energy record" at indoor concerts.
Dark Days/Light Years is released on April 13.
