Take That Marks Third Week At No. 1 On U.K. Chart

Take That marked a third week atop the U.K. album chart yesterday - and a remarkable 52nd overall - with "Progress" (Polydor/Universal). The "X Factor" Finalists' charity cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment) started a second week at the singles summit.

"Progress," which is now past 900,000 sales on its way to a rapid million, stayed at the top to restrict former "X Factor" contestant Olly Murs to a No. 2 entry with his self-titled debut album (Epic/Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment). JLS' "Outta This World" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) slipped 2-3 while Rihanna's "Loud" (Def Jam/Universal) swapped places at No. 4 with Susan Boyle's "The Gift" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment) at No. 5.

There were two other top ten debuts, British R&B collective N-Dubz' "Love Live Life" (All Around The World/Universal Island) at No. 7 and Duffy's sophomore set "Endlessly" (A&M/Universal) at No. 9. That somewhat muted entry comes after the failure of its first single "Well Well Well" to reach the top 40, with a 41-44 fall on the new chart.

Black Eyed Peas' "The Beginning" (Interscope/Universal) also made a modest start, at No. 17, despite its single "The Time (Dirty Bit)" climbing 11-6. "Heroes," meanwhile, stayed at No. 1 as Ellie Gouding's cover of "Your Song" (Polydor/Universal) held at No. 2 and Nicole Scherzinger's "Poison" (Interscope/Universal) entered at No. 3.

Murs' "Thinking Of Me" stayed at No. 4 as "Like A G6" (Interscope/Universal) by Far East Movement featuring Cataracs and Dev climbed 7-5. "What's My Name" (Def Jam/Universal) by Rihanna featuring Drake went up 10-8 as "Who's That Chick" (Positiva/Virgin/EMI), the new single by French DJ-artist David Guetta on which she features, debuted at No. 9.

Coldplay's new festive download track "Christmas Lights" (Parlophone/EMI) entered at No. 18, as the regular Christmas contingent continued to make its way up the chart. Mariah Carey's 1994 hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You" (Columbia) revisited the top 40 for the fourth year running, climbing 48-22, and "Fairytale of New York" (Warner Bros./Warner Music) by the Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl jumped 51-27. A No. 2 hit in 1987, it's now made the U.K. top 40 on eight occasions, including each of the last six Christmases.

Europe-wide, meanwhile, Take That's "Progress" moved 8-1 on European Albums, replacing Rihanna's "Loud," but the Barbadian star's "Only Girl (In The World)" is in a fifth week atop Hot 100 Singles.
