We've been watching the Beach Boys' reunion tour throughout the summer as the set lists continued to grow. They opened the tour back in late-April in Tuscon, AZ with what was thought to be a lengthy 42-song performance but, as the tour progressed, the length of the set increased to 45, then 52 and, with their final appearance on Friday night at the Wembley Arena in London, an epic 55 songs set of classics.
It truly is a shame that the boys can't get along enough to keep this thing going. Amazingly, Brian Wilson, the most reluctant to reunite in the past, is ready to keep things going with the rest of the members as is Al Jardine. It's Mike Love, who actually owns the group name, who seems to want to rid the group of Wilson, Jardine and David Marks and just go out with his own band which includes the fifth member, Bruce Johnston.
Luckily, we have the memories of a summer of shows and the superb comeback album, That's Why God Made the Radio, to look back on when all that is left is Love's faux group.
