The Beach Boys are finally going to release 'The Smile Sessions' after 44 years of being shelved.
According to Billboard, the album doesn't have a proper release date yet, but Capitol Records are expected to release it sometime during 2011.
The album was originally slated for release in 1967, but after troubles with the drug-addled Brian Wilson almost destroyed the band, the album never saw the light of day.
'Smiley Smile' was released in its place, although at the time it was met with ambivalence and ever since then fans had wanted to hear the extravagant and experimental original version that was due for release.
In 2004, Brian Wilson released a reworked solo version of the record and the accompanying tour received worldwide acclaim, but the original recordings had been kept away from the public.
