THE DRUMS release both their brand new single 'Money' and album 'Portamento' today through Moshi Moshi/Island!
As the New York trio land in the UK for a series of sold out, intimate London headline shows starting at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen tonight, they unleash their already widely acclaimed new offerings on the public. They're also today giving away a free Chad Valley remix of the single'Money''.
The band also prepare to upload the 3rd episode of their new weekly web TV show VISIOMENTIO after a live version of 'What You Were' a fortnight ago and last week's disorientating interview with Jonny. The Drums will upload a new episode of VISIOMENTO to www.thedrums.com every Tuesday. Expect to find exclusive interviews, live performance, special guest appearances and more.
This week will see The Drums play their first own London shows with their new line-up, which has swollen to a quintet live, augmented by two auxiliary members. Also gone are the backing tracks used for the bulk of their live shows to date, thus lending their performances a more visceral, spontaneous feel, in line with the aesthetic of the new album.

'Portamento'- released just over a year since their debut - reveals a band tugging lightly at the boundaries of their sound while still retaining their recognizable sonic signatures. Sweet rushes of melody and brittle synthesizer sheens colliding with wiry Spector-esque guitar lines are still very much present, but singer, Jonny Pierce's lyrics have assumed a deeper, personal tone and coupled with the band's own more expansive production, 'Portamento' is a more complex, but ultimately more rewarding listen than their debut.
The Drums are:
Jonny Pierce - vocals, guitars
Jacob Graham - synths
Connor Hanwick ' guitar
