The King Blues to play Sailor Jerry Presents

Sailor Jerry Presents The King Blues will be the third of a series of five explosive live gigs that will see the punk rock band take to the stage at Manchester's Night and Day on Friday 10th June.

Tickets for the show cost £5 (with no booking fee) and are available from www.sailorjerry.co.uk with tickets also available on the door for £6. The gig follows sell out events in Brighton, with tickets selling fast for Glasgow (27 May) and more gigs planned for London and Bristol later in the year.

Following the recent release of their third album, 'Punk and Poetry', The King Blues look set to play a number of new tracks with their signature punk rock take on a mix of reggae, hip hop, folk and doo wop tracks. Originally from London, the six-piece politically charged ska-folk band promises to take Manchester by storm with an attitude and energy shared by the late Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins, the tattoo pioneer known to many as simply 'The Man'.

Collins' motto of 'Originate, don't imitate' will take centre stage at the gig where a number of autobiographical tracks with a commitment to politics and resistance will be sure to stir things up. Whilst the band un-leash its prowess on stage, bar staff will be serving up a couple of free Sailor Jerry Spiced mixes for the thirsty crowd with Sailor & ginger and Sailor & cola on offer throughout the night.

The Sailor Jerry Presents gig series follows a long association with music in the UK and the US where Sailor Jerry shows have boosted many up-and-coming bands. Sailor Jerry rum works with like-minded musicians and artists who share an approach to authenticity, dedication and non-conformist attitude. The King Blues join a list of bands who have performed in the past two years, including Pulled Apart by Horses, The Joy Formidable and Mystery Jets, who have since gone on to secure wider acclaim and critical success.
