The Kooks open Oxjam month

The Kooks, Jarvis Cocker and Remi Nicole kicked off the Oxjam festival last night in a specially converted Oxfam shop in Dalston.

This marked the launch of the month-long Oxjam festival, in which members of the public will put on 3,000 music events throughout October to raise £1 million for Oxfam.

Remi Nicole performed an upbeat set prior to a relaxed Javis Cocker DJ set which included The Stranglers, Bowie, The Specials and apologetically 'Fog On The Tyne' by Gazza.

Luke Pritchard and Hugh Harris from The Kooks were in fine form with the small crowd enjoying acoustic versions of Seaside, Ooh La and Jackie Big Tits amongst many others.

Luke commented to Music News 'yeah, it's a brilliant cause, everybody should get out there and help'.
