The Maccabees have today announced details of a 2012 headline UK tour. The run of dates begin in Newcastle on January 23rd and includes a Brixton Academy show on the 26th.
The announcement of these much anticipated live dates comes in the wake of a recent sold out low key tour, in which the band played intimate venues to fervent audiences in order to showcase their new material.
This will be the third time the band have headlined Brixton Academy, having previously performed two sold out shows at the iconic London venue in 2009.
The five-piece from London - Orlando Weeks, Hugo White, Felix White, Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle – also recently confirmed a release date of January 9th for their highly anticipated third studio album 'Given To The Wild'.
Taking sonic inspiration from a disparate collection of musical peers such as The Stone Roses, Kate Bush and David Bowie, 'Given To The Wild' finds the band ascending to new heights, both sonically and lyrically.
The UK dates for the January 2012 tour are as follows: -
23rd – Glasgow QMU
24th – Newcastle O2 Academy
26th – Brixton O2 Academy
27th – Birmingham HMV Institute
28th – Manchester HMV Ritz
Fans will be able to purchase an exclusive ticket bundle from the HMV website at 9am on Wednesday 9th November.
General tickets are on sale from all usual outlets from Friday 11th November at 9am.
