The National have cancelled concerts in Russia and Ukraine due to the continuing unrest in the region.
In a statement on their Facebook page the band apologised for not arriving to play scheduled concerts and also wished for a "democratic" end to the escalating conflict. They also said that they remain "hopeful" that they will be able to return to play in the future.
"Due to the ongoing political crisis in the region, we are sad to report that we have decided to cancel our shows in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev this summer," they wrote. "Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase. We remain hopeful of coming to play for you in the future and we sincerely hope this current instability resolves in a positive, democratic and peaceful way.
"Take care of yourselves and we hope to see you soon."
