In an era of bland and forgettable music, The Orwells are something of a breath of fresh air. They do what they want and they don't give two hoots if you like it or not. Known for their chaotic and improvised live shows, they are an interesting prospect for the future of modern music and signal a return of punk ideals that have been absent for far too long.
On a visit to out local pub, guitarist Matt O'Keefe and front man Mario Cuomo sat down to discuss their debut album Disgraceland. As a title it is representative of the bands ideals, a play on symbols of Americana and a tribute to the suburban bred rage they hold at the core of their band. It is an album that is just as chaotic and punk; they walk the walk and they talk the talk.
Disgraceland by the Orwells is out now.
