The legendary band are set to be displayed in the National Portrait Gallery
A famous photograph of The Smiths has been acquired by the National Portrait Gallery.
The famous photo, taken by photographer Stephen Wright, was featured on the inner sleeve of their 1986 album 'The Queen Is Dead'.
The band are stood in front of Salford Lads' Club, which has since become a favourite tourist attraction for Smiths fans.
Wright said: "I never anticipated that one of my photographs would still be talked about after 20 years," according to the BBC.
The photograph has joined the Gallery's permanent collection, however a date for its first public display has not yet been set.document.write(unescape("
