The Strokes have denied rumours that they are to start work on a fifth studio album this month.
It was reported, via Billboard, yesterday that the New York band were holed up in the Electric Lady studios with Gus Oberg, who worked on their 2011 album 'Angles'. The report claimed that the new album would be the fifth of a five album contract the band are under with RCA.
However, speaking to Pitchfork, the band's management have flatly denied every aspect of this story and state that The Strokes are not currently working on any new material.
2011's 'Angles' was a difficult album to record by all accounts, with lead singer Julian Casablancas recording his vocals in isolation away from his band mates.
