The Strokes play small London show

The Strokes played a unique, intimate gig in London last night (November 29) reports NME.com.

Appearing at ULU, the group performed in front of just 800 people, many of whom had queued in the cold overnight to get hold of tickets for the capital show.

Taking the opportunity to showcase their new album 'First Impressions Of Earth' at the gig - highlights from which will be broadcast by Radio 1 this week - The Strokes also dug deep into their catalogue to treat the sold-out crowd to a 21-song set.

With the audience including members of Franz Ferdinand, Blondie, Duran Duran, Editors, Stereophonics, 'The Mighty Boosh' and Razorlight among others, frontman Julian Casablancas seemed impressed by the passionate crowd, telling them "You guys are beautiful, God bless you" as his band performed for an hour-and-a-half.

The Strokes are now set to play a second intimate London show for MTV on December 2, before returning to the UK next year for a full tour.
