The Sweet Chap - Protest release

February 28th 2005 sees the release of the first single on Protest Recordings â€" one of the world's first chart-eligible record companies that distributes its artists' material mainly in MP3 format, worldwide. This interactive e-label will embrace the future of new music technology, making a stand against the creative straitjacket artists often find themselves placed in by the industry, and dispense with some of the outdated practices employed by major labels that keep costs high, and royalties minimal.

The brainchild of a team of highly-experienced New Media and music industry specialists Protest arrives on the scene at a time when independent releases are finally being given a chance thanks to developments such as the launch of the Official Download Chart; and when internet consumerism looks set to completely change the current music industry model.

This debut single, the double A-side composed of Superman 3 and Girl With The Curl, both come from one of this year's most breath-takingly original artists â€" The Sweet Chap. Signed to IE Music, one of the UK's most successful management companies, The Sweet Chap cut his musical teeth in Brighton, revelling in the variety of styles that makes the city so unique.

The Sweet Chap spent years honing his craft in various bands, all the time taking in a broad spectrum of styles which now contributes to the diversity of his own output, blending opulent guitar, unique vocals and twisted electronica to create an aural tapestry rare in today's somewhat homogenous musical climate.
