In October, Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy said that the group would be changing its name. "Out of respect to Phil Lynott and the legacy he created, we have decided that we should not release a new album under the Thin Lizzy name. It was a very difficult decision as we put a lot of time and effort into re-building the Thin Lizzy brand over recent years. Releasing a new album was the only way to continue this success. We all know how much Phil meant to this band and the fans."
On Monday, the band said on their Facebook page that they would be announcing their new name on Christmas Eve.
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has seen the band on this tour and all previous tours and we hope you will continue to support the guys in all they do.
The Big Announcement with new band name and more details on new album etc will be released on Christmas Eve on this page - stay tuned!
No word yet on when the new album will be out. The band has been on tour and recordings of some of their recent shows are now available through Concert Live.
