An amazing goldmine of almost 700 unreleased songs by Thin Lizzy have been located with plans to release them in a box set.
Late singer and guitarist Phil Lynott gave a friend 150 tapes before his death in 1986, and the tapes, containing almost 700 recorded songs, have recently been passed on to Universal Music.
The recordings feature alternate takes of Thin Lizzy classics, as well as previously unreleased songs, recorded between their inception in 1971 and the release of their 1981 album Renegade.
Surviving Thin Lizzy members Scott Gorham and Brian Downey will decide which songs will appear on a forthcoming box set, as well as final say on the artwork.
Wednesday marks the 26th anniversary of Lynott's death.
