In the aftermath of the riots, Big Lottery Fund and the New Day Foundation teamed up to start Peace Mix aiming to champion young British talent and today they are proud to announce the regional winners who will perform with Tinchy Stryder when he headlines the Peace Mix winners party at the legendary Roundhouse next Tuesday, August 28th.
The winners of the Peace Mix Relay will perform as Stryder's support acts for the gig and are finally confirmed as Georgie Rose from Nottingham and Ricky Flemming from Leeds, after battling against the best of the regional competitors. They were chosen by judges Stephen Budd, Wizdom and Tim Smit at the Eden Project Peace Mix Play Off.
The Peace Mix project, supported by Tinchy Stryder, Rizzle Kicks and Shingai Shinowa (Noisettes), started after the riots last year to encourage young people to stay out of trouble and get involved in music. Tinchy Stryder has shown his support for the campaign and cannot wait for the gig with his celebrated support acts. Some quotes from the ambassadors below.
The Peace Mix Mic Relay had musicians visiting music studios in 11 cities across the UK to spread the message of peace and unearth the hidden musical talents of young people throughout the nation. Georgie and Ricky claimed their winning titles at the Eden Project's Peace Mix Play off, where they competed against other regional winners and announced as Tinchy Styrder's Roundhouse supporters. Now is your chance to see the winners in action, with tickets at only £5 on the night, available on the door.
