All 3400 tickets for Tom Waits' London show were sold in just 30 minutes of the box-office opening on Friday, one of the fastest concert sell-outs in UK music history.
“This was a phenomenal reaction from the fans,†says Paul Charles of Asgard, the promoters of the event. “Indeed, we were inundated with so many applications that it would take a month of concerts to satisfy the demand we've had this morning.â€
The show -- part of Waits' eight-date Real Gone European tour -- is at London's Hammersmith Apollo on Tuesday 23rd November. It is Waits' first UK appearance since he played at the same theatre almost exactly 17 years before, on 22nd November 1987.
The Apollo concert follows the release of Tom Waits' new album, Real Gone, which is in stores on Monday 4th October.
