Tommy Lee sat out Motley Crue's Wednesday night show in Buffalo, NY due to a case of tendinitis in his wrist and was replaced by Glen Sobel, drummer for opening act Alice Cooper.
Lee went on stage during the show to apologize to the audience, telling them "I'm so fucking sorry. I woke up at 3 AM with tendonitis. I got a shot and the doctor's like, 'You need to chill the fuck out for a minute.' So I just want to say I'm sorry, this shit just happens. Glen is back there, from Alice Cooper, fucking killing shit. So give it up for my man. I'll see you soon."
Sobel was only given a few hours notice and spent the afternoon learning the parts but he considered his sudden gig a real honor. Glen wrote on his Facebook page:
So today at 12:30pm I got a call from Motley Crue management about me filling in for Tommy Lee who has a hurt wrist. After our Alice Cooper set, I rocked a set w/ Crue here in Buffalo, NY. It's been an insane day of prep & making cheat sheets. I can't describe what an honor its been to rock tonight with Vince, Mick, Nikki & Tommy, who was handling some of the electronics and cueing me through the in ear monitors from side stage. No- I did not do the Cruecify drum solo. But I played with the guys for the finale of Home Sweet Home on the hydraulic stage by front of house.
It's one of those things- had I known when I was a kid this would happen one day—-you get the picture.
Here's to hoping Tommy Lee's wrist heals up quickly. I'm familiar with the experience of playing though pain while being on tour. It isn't fun.
Thx to all my Alice band mates & crew members (especially Michael Miller & Nick Engle) for making this day run smooth, and of course Alice for having me out on this amazing tour.
See you at the next show!

Lee also sat out the band's Friday night show in Bridgeport, CT. This time, he released his own statement on the situation:
As some of you may have heard, I sustained an injury of severe inflammation to my left wrist and was unable to play the show the other night in Buffalo. I'm so sorry to say that the injury has not improved and it is unlikely I will be able to perform again tonight in Bridgeport. Regardless, the show must go on and Alice Cooper's amazing drummer, Glen Sobel, will be filling in for me on drums. I will, however, come on stage to see everyone and also to play the piano with my good hand for the finale on 'Home Sweet Home'.
I am told this injury is temporary and that I will be back on stage very shortly. I'm doing everything in my power to speed up the healing process. I hate not being able to play for you guys!!
