Trent Reznor has parted ways with Beats Music, following the company's $3 billion buy-out from Apple.
Reznor previously served as Chief Creative Officer, helping to oversee the heavily curated functions of Dre's app. Now according to USA Today, he has chosen to depart the company, along with other other executives Fredric Vinna and Ola Sars, who have both headed to Spotify.
The departure may be attributed to any number of factors, including Reznor returning to his day job - touring heavily with Nine Inch Nails. He is also working on the score for the new David Fincher movie, Gone Girl with Atticus Ross, so it's safe to say that he is a very busy man.
Also equally likely is the fact that Reznor just hates Apple. In 2009 he had a falling out with the company over the Downward Spiral App not being sold, due to its use of a curse word. He said it didn't make sense that you could buy the album, but not purchase the app.
“You can’t allow an iPhone app that may have a song with a bad word somewhere in it …," he said. "Hey Apple, I just got some spam about fucking hot Asian teens through your e-mail program. I just saw two guys having explicit anal sex right there in Safari! On my iPhone! Come on Apple, think your policies through and for fuck’s sake get your app approval scenario together.”
