The Irish band have been forced to postpone the release after bassist Adam Clayton revealed that they have been working on sessions with Danger Mouse and RedOne but the sessions hadn't gone quite as planned.
It is now expected that the album will be released next year instead.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said: 'We had to have a meeting and look at the schedule to see if we could pick up any extra time to work on it. We just realised that we couldn't.
'To be honest, everyone was a bit gutted. But it was the only sensible decision.'
