A protest against U2’s alleged tax dodge was foiled as the band headlined this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Protesters from the direct action group Art Uncut tried to reveal an inflatable banner during their opening song but a security team stopped them.
U2, who were performing at the festival for the first time, played a career-spanning set.
Despite heavy rain, singer Bono paid tribute to the crowd, and thanked them for their “patience” after the group were forced to pull out last year when he injured his back.
U2’s set included the songs ‘Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’, ‘Beautiful Day’ and ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’.
