Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Thompson was involved in a car accident after the NME Awards and reportedly sustained a serious head injury.
The accident happened outside the Hoxton Hotel sometime after midnight. An ambulance was called out and the drummer taken to the Royal London Hospital.
Xfm Breakshow presenter Alex Zane was present at the accident. He said:
"It was awful. It sounded like big bang popping and I saw this guy on the floor and someone called an ambulance which arrived really quickly."
He continued: " [Thompson] was unconscious to start with but he then managed a smile and a wave as he was stretchered away."
