For the second time in a month, "Hard in Da Paint" rapper Waka Flocka Flame (born Juaquin James Malphurs) has been cited for drug possession.
According to TMZ, Waka was pulled over by Atlanta police on Tuesday for a routine traffic violation. When officers asked him to step out of the vehicle so they could cuff him, they allegedly found a small amount of marijuana on the floor of his white Chevy Tahoe.
Though a spokesperson for the Atlanta PD could not be reached for comment at press time, TMZ reported that the MC was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and failure to wear a seat belt. After being booked on the charges, he was released from custody a short time later. A spokesperson for the rapper had not returned requests for comment at press time.
Waka was also arrested on July 23 in Queens, New York, for similar charges (criminal possession of marijuana), when he was allegedly found with marijuana while in the parking lot of the Coliseum Mall in Queens. It appeared that he was released without charge in that case.
In addition, Waka turned himself in to Georgia authorities on January 4 to face weapons and drug charges and was released 48 hours later after posting bail. A grand jury decided in May that there was not enough evidence to pursue those charges.
It's been a colorful year for the "No Hands" star, as he was also allegedly the intended victim in a shooting that took place at a stereo store in North Carolina in February, during which his tour bus was hit with bullets. Prosecutors eventually dropped the charges against the six men detained in that incident, saying witnesses could not clearly identify the suspects.
