Fans for The White Stripes have given a mixed response to the band's surprise split.
The duo of Jack and Meg White announced on Wednesday (February 2) that they had no plans to record together or play live again.
They said they had come to decision to protect the band's legacy and thanked fans for supporting them “throughout the 13 plus years of The White Stripes intense and incredible career”.
Responding to the announcement, Gigwise has been inundated by fans' feelings about the split.
On Twitter, SheyMcfez said he was “gutted”, but hoped Jack White would continue his endeavours with side-project The Dead Weather.
ScottsAndy also felt the same, but other fans seemed less bothered by the announcement – pointing to the band's recent hiatus.
LouisWarner, on Twitter, said he was “not fussed, the formula was getting tired”, while Mildred76 pointed to how the duo had “hardly been prolific in the last few years”.
