Over the course of the next four weeks, Rocko promises four more remix versions of his controversial "U.O.E.N.O." single. In fact, he estimates that he has at least 10 guest verses already in the stash. Some reports say that Kanye West contributed one of those verses, but Rocko is dumbfounded by the rumors.
"I don't where they came from. I never said that," the Atlanta rap executive told on Friday, without saying "no" outright.
Rocko said that the media and fans took a tweet that he sent toward the Louis Vuitton Don as confirmation, but he won't own up to it. "I saluted Kanye on Twitter about something totally different, about something else," he said, claiming he also reached out to Kendrick Lamar.
"That's something I do, I salute artists, I salute people, people who I respect their craft and what they bring to the game. I salute 'em," he said. "I think the media took the salute and just ran with it."
"U.O.E.N.O." was released in February and created a firestorm of controversy in March. Many fans and women's rights advocates took issue with Rick Ross verse, in which the Maybach Music MC rhymed of putting the drug molly in a woman's drink and then having sex with her, all without her knowledge. Rozay fell under heavy criticism and eventually lost his endorsement deal with Reebok last week. He has since apologized for the lyric.
Rocko says certain radio stations didn't want to play the record after the controversy, so he devised a plan to make a number of different remixes without Ross, though he maintains that Rozay will always be a part of the original. On Thursday, the A1 CEO dropped a Wiz Khalifa version of the record, with promises of several more. Whether or not Yeezy will bless the beat, we'll just have to wait and see.
"Hey man, you never know who's gonna be on the ['You Don't Even Know'] remix, that's why I called it 'U.O.E.N.O.', cause you don't even know," Rocko teased.
