Will Smith has confirmed he is in the studio every day working on new music for the first time in 10 years.
The 47-year-old is best known for his film work, starring in big budget movies including Men in Black, I Am Legend and Ali.
But the multi-talented star has also had a successful music career, releasing four albums as a solo artist in addition to collaborating with DJ Jazzy Jeff. His last record Lost and Found reached listeners in 2005, but Will has revealed he's back in the studio working on new music.
"I'm pretty much poppin' in the studio every day and I'm looking for artists to collaborate with," he told DJ Zane Lowe on Monday (05Oct15). "I've probably recorded 30 songs. I have six or seven that I really like."
Will had major hits in the 90s and early noughties with songs like Gettin' Jiggy wit It, Miami and Wild Wild West. But the father-of-three admits things have changed a bit since he was last in the recording studio and it's taking some time for him to find his voice again.
"I have so many things I wanted to say," he explained. "I'm struggling with saying them that fit the flavour of the music I turn to."
During his chat with the radio host, Will also confirmed he will be touring with his close pal DJ Jazzy Jeff next year (16).
"Jeff and I actually have never done a full tour," he added. "So this summer will be the first time we go out on a full world tour."
As well as his music, Will is still working on acting projects, including the highly anticipated Suicide Squad movie. The film has an all-star cast including Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Jared Leto. But two-time Oscar-nominee Will admits he never got to know Jared outside of his Joker persona.
"We worked together for six months and we've never exchanged a word outside of 'action' and 'cut.'" He laughed. "I've only ever spoken to him as Deadshot and him as the Joker character."
