One of the producers who contributed to Kanye West's Yeezus, Evian Christ, has revealed he's started work on the follow-up to the rapper's critically acclaimed 2013 LP.
Speaking to Self Titled, UK producer Christ confirmed he's started work on what will be West's seventh album, and even teased what direction the rapper is taking. "I've got to get home and write an Otis Redding-style beat for him," he said. "He e-mailed last night. He wants something that sounds a bit like Otis Redding, a bit like Mobb Deep."
Christ, who is signed to Kanye's GOOD Music imprint, then praised the rapper, calling him "a dream" to work with.
"Kanye is the one dude who’s like, ‘This is not experimental enough. This is too poppy. Make something else.' The other guys are like, ‘We don’t get it,'" he said.
"Kanye is a dream to work with. No one else gives you that level of creative freedom. When he wants you to work to a blueprint, the blueprint is: 'Don’t make a rap beat. Anything but a rap beat,'" the producer revealed.
