Already set to dominate London's night-sky by taking over the iconic EDF Energy London Eye for a one-night showcase of the capital's rich musical tapestry, Red Bull Music Academy brings yet more acts to the party. We can now announce the World's first six-channel Silent Disco as well as an after-party featuring a host of talent from the event at underground clubbing mecca Fabric.
Each of the 30 capsules will be programmed with the some of the most influential producers, DJs and live acts around, including leading lights Wretch 32, Skream & Benga ft Sgt Pokes, Goldie, Toddla T & Redlight, Kano and Andrew Weatherall to name but a few. They'll now be joined by newly confirmed acts: urban icon and Mercury-winning hip hop songstress Ms Dynamite, super-talented London singer/producer/DJ/multi-instrumentalist Ben Westbeech alongside part jazz-man, part B-boy Soweto Kinch performing his hypnotic, hybrid sound. Elsewhere, Dynamite's former classmate and one-to-watch Jess Mills partners with one of drum & bass' leading names: the notorious DJ Zinc, whilst beat-boxing phenomenon Beardyman, highly danceable deep-cut disco outfit Horse Meat Disco and further acts from Roundhouse Studios complete the bill.
A 'Silent Disco' transmitting through AKG's state-of-the-art wireless headphones at the base of the EDF Energy London Eye landscape will give over 1000 more people the pick of the action, as the event takes over the illuminated South Bank. Those on the ground level event will be able to tune into 6 different channels, four from the capsules and two from the landscape - the first time ever music fans have had so many headphone channels to choose from.
With such a plethora of musical minds and fans gathered in one place, the party will carry on long after the wheel stops turning for the day. Clubbing institution Fabric will play host to the seminal David Rodigan and pioneer of the 'crack house' genre Zinc, as well as a selection of secret guests from the EDF London Eye Performances on its legendary dance-floors. Tickets are priced at £10 or free for the first 150 Silent Disco ticket-holders to arrive at the main event. Those arriving early will also bear witness to young rhythm master Mele and electro/pop princess Goldierocks who will be playing on the ground level, providing the first headphone stream of the night from 6.30pm. Then taking their place to close this unique and one-off event on the Southbank will be one of the nation's favourite hip-hop and R 'n' B radio DJ Tim Westwood and the illustrious MJ Cole.
Audio from each of the 30 capsule gigs will be streamed live via redbull.co.uk/revolutionsinsound as well as four pods streaming audio-visually through RBMA's media partners ' Metro, Time Out, FACT Magazine and Boiler Room. So, even if not lucky enough to be there, fans can tune in and take their pick of the action live as it happens.
Revolutions in Sound will be the final stop on a global tour, with concerts and workshops held in ten cities with their own distinct musical tapestries - Berlin, Detroit, New York, São Paulo, Cape Town, Melbourne, Paris, Toronto and Rome ' building up to the 14th annual Academy in Madrid this October/November. Once again, 60 rising talents from around the world will get the chance to meet and collaborate with fellow participants and learn from some great music minds giving lectures and hosting workshops.
