Wu-Tang Clan's Anniversary LP Gets A Symbolic Title

Are Wu-Tang Clan all in together now? It certainly appears so.

The Wu have finally decided on a title for their upcoming LP — A Better Tomorrow — and are planning for a July release, according to http://hiphop-n-more.com/. The album title should be familiar to Wu-Tang die-hards since it's also the name of a track they featured on their 1997 sophomore LP, Wu-Tang Forever. (And the group's reference was John Woo's 1986 crime film, "A Better Tomorrow.")

At the top of the month, RZA skyped into "RapFix Live" and told show host Sway Calloway that his plans for the Staten Island group were already in motion.

"I already got some heat put together for the boys," he said. "This is our 20th anniversary, so it's not only for us, I think it's especially for the hip-hop fans out there and for the people that supported the culture and what we do. It's not a lot of us that can say '20 years.'

"I think that Wu-Tang can do one more album to close that book, just for the fun of it, not even for nothing else but fun. Just do it to do it," he added.

The Wu's groundbreaking 1993 debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), wasn't just a commercial smash, it was also a critical success that effectively changed the way that group deals were structured in hip-hop. The eight-man rap collective hasn't released a unified album since 2007's 8 Diagrams, but RZA proposed the idea of one final album — if the eight-man collective would relinquish complete creative control to him.

Ghostface Killah and Method Man have both messaged that they're ready to participate, while Clan standout Raekwon had some reservations when MTV New spoke to him.

"The bottom line is: Of course I want to see a Wu-Tang reunion. Of course. Who wouldn't?" Raekwon said on "RapFix Live," back in February. "I just want everything to be right, the business. When we made a lot of our great music, it was because we were in harmony. You cannot put guys together if there is no harmony and, on top of it, we're doing business. As a man with children, I have to always look at that. It's bigger than sometimes just the thought of it; the fact of it, it just gotta make sense."
