Happy birthday ZZ Top. The Texan band turned 40 on New Years Eve.
ZZ Top, featuring Gibbons on guitar, Dusty Hill on bass and Frank Beard on drums, formed in Houston, Texas on December 31, 1969 and played their first gig in February 1970.
This year, they will release their first album since 'Mescalero' in 2003. The yet to be titled album was produced by Rick Rubin.
Meanwhile, ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons spent the end of 2009 taking his Mexican Blackbird to Japan.
Renowned car enthusiastic and collector Gibbons took the car, a 1958 Thunderbird named after one of his 1975 ZZ Top songs to the Mooneyes Hot Rod and Custom Show in Yokohama in December and showed it off to 15,000 fans.
