Railway Jam Lyrics

Written by Bob Stanley & Pete Wiggs Produced by Saint Etienne Released February 1993 on So Tough Notes Contains a sample from an older track, Scene 93. The sample at the beginning of the song is spoken by Moira Shearer and then Karlheinz Boehm, taken from the Michael Powell horror film "Peeping Tom". The ghostly reverbed vocal harmony (10 seconds or so) after the "Peeping Tom" sample is from The Flamingos' Golden Teardrops. A vocal version, entitled Orpington Blues recorded at the same time was released August 2009 on the So Tough deluxe reissue. It is sometimes mis-labelled as "Railway Jam" (Vocal Version). Pete Wiggs in 2009: "The title comes from a misheard lyric from Joy Division's Sister Ray on the Still album. When Ian Curtis was singing 'Whip it on me Jim' we thought he was singing "Railway Jam". We wouldn't use the word jam in a song otherwise."
