Woodward Biography
During a period in rock when emo, pop punk acts rule the airwaves and distinctions between most are one in the same, Woodward is a band that breaks the mold as an edgy, up-beat rock group not concerned with current trends or following the pack. With comparisons ranging from the Ramones and the Beatles, to such contemporaries as a "less-adenoidal Weezer", Woodward has the unique ability to create simple, catchy hooks complemented by hypnotic vocal harmonies, powerful, driving guitar riffs & a finely tuned balance of up-tempo piano stabs, while still maintaining the integrity and credibility of their music. Simply put Woodward creates rock music for the masses. Led by childhood friends John-Paul Zammit (Guitar/Vocals) & Dan Karmel (Bass/Vocals), Woodward began to form in October of 2004. In a very short period of time, the boys from Woodward have created quite a buzz around the Detroit metro area propelling themselves into the local spotlight, separating themselves from an endless array of mediocre rock ensembles. By packing such nationally renowned venues as the Magic Stick & Blind Pig, Woodward has earned their reputation for "rocking your socks off" and has also played alongside such notable artists as Brian Vander Ark from The Verve Pipe, Howling Diablos, and The Hush Sound.
