Duosway

The idea for Duo Sway first came about when Pedro Cuevas and Juan Fernando Herrera were given an assignment by their talent coach, Dr. Angelica Rosa. They were to write a song as a duo, and they eventually wrote their first song, titled “SOLO FALTA” (the only thing missing) In 2008, after arduous work we had finally written and composed most of the material we needed to record 11 songs for our debut album. Following a series of presentations and much practice, we traveled to Argentina in September of the same year to record our first album at Mondomix Studio with renowned music producer Juan Blas Caballero—who has won many Latin Grammys as a producer. Mr. Caballero took care of the instrumentation and other important details of our songs, and he made sure we had a great recording experience. Also during our time in Argentina, we worked on and submitted a song for Coca Cola’s summer ad campaign titled “Hoy Quiero”. (I want) In 2009, we finally launched Duo Sway nationally in Guatemala with the release of our first single, “Webcam”, which reached the top of the charts in Guatemala’s Pop radio stations. Shortly after the release, we got in touch with Christian Celada who helped us to make our first music video. After two months of filming, editing, and post-production, we finally premiered our video and with the help of our friends at Ritmoson Latino, were able to expand our audience internationally. We were also able to show our music on MTV LA and we made it into “Los 10 + Pedidos” (The top 10 videos) for several weeks. With the release of our first single, we began a promising career in the national stage, which was made even greater by a series of presentations and performances in important shows in the country, as well as appearing as opening acts to a series of internationally famous artists such as Fanny Lu, Elvis Crespo, Franco de Vita, BIG METRA, and others. In a short time, and thanks to the support of the national and international media as well as our fans, it finally seemed like our music was gaining recognition outside of Guatemala. Near the end of 2009, we were invited to appear on the show “Sin Reservas” on Ritmoson Latino, where we had an amazing time and were able to present our music to a wider Latin American audience. 2010 met us with high expectations and we exceeded them with the release of our second single, titled “Quedate” (Stay). Once again our song entered MTV LA’s Top 10, and we topped the charts in Guatemala’s radio stations. Our music video also entered the rotation for VH1, Telehit, and Ritmoson Latino. We are excited as we see that our efforts have helped us go beyond our borders, and it is fulfilling to see that our music is being requested in countries like Argentina, Peru, Honduras, and Chile. We have been invited to perform at events such as Teleton 2008 and 2009, The DJ awards in Mexico CITY, the opening of Gallo's Christmas Tree 2009, and Miss Guatemala 2010. We have been nominated for Top 40 radio's 40 awards 2009 in the best group category. In 2010, we were nominated in the best duo and song of the year categories for the "orgullosamente latino" awards, hosted by Ritmoson Latino, with both of our singles (Webcam and Quedate). We were also ranked 95 in Latin MTV's top 100 requests for 2009 with our single "Webcam". We recently arrived in Mexico this month to meet with record companies, and have decided to stay in this beautiful country filled with opportunities to take our music a step farther. We expect great things from ourselves, and have faith that good things are coming.
