Latoya Jackson Biography
La Toya Yvonne Jackson (born May 29, 1956 in Gary, Indiana) is an American singer and the middle child of the Jackson family. n 1980, La Toya released her self-titled debut. The album, though marginally successful and containing her first top 40 R&B single, "If You Feel the Funk", was deemed a flop. Despite this, Jackson would release four more albums between 1982 and 1986. She hit the lower half of the Billboard Hot 100 with the single, "Heart Don't Lie" (#63), in 1984. In 1988, after La Toya left her father's management company and aligned herself with ex-convict and manager Jack Gordon, she released La Toya, which would be released in three different titles on subsequent overseas labels between 1990 and 1991. Despite her popularity for non-musical activities including being featured on Playboy and later for writing a book criticizing her father's actions upon her and her siblings, La Toya's music career never reached the peaks of either of her siblings. A troubling tour, while in Paris' Moulin Rouge, in 1992 led to more problems and by 1996, having released cover albums of both country and Motown songs, she had retired from recording music. In 2003, she started work on a new album titled Starting Over, with the management company, Ja-Tail. After several failed plans to release the album, it is said to be released in the summer of 2006.
