isn't quite done with the roll-out for his solo debut album; Based on a T.R.U. Story was up for Best Rap Album at the . Deuce walked the red carpet, and while he didn't expect to win the category, he is happy just to be in the conversation. In fact, 2 Chainz was so thrilled that the usually tight-lipped MC let some exclusive information slip about his upcoming sophomore LP.
"I was in the studio 5 o'clock this morning, me and Pharrell did a banger," 2 Chainz told correspondent Sway Calloway when he walked the Grammy red carpet in a black and red Versace suit accented with vintage Versace jewelry.
The "No Lie" MC re-confirmed that his next album will be out this year and even told Sway that he had a title, not that he would share it. "I believe in keeping secrets. That's what made me like hip-hop — the features, the video, the art, the culture — so I didn't really want to give that knowledge up because I know people that see it coming," he said. "I'm just working with a lot of different people that you won't expect."
2 Chainz didn't win the Rap Album of the year award — that gramophone was given to Drake for his 2011 LP Take Care. Drizzy also beat out Nas, Lupe Fiasco, the Roots and Rick Ross. "Just for me to be nominated with those group of guys — this is my first album, and so I don't plan on winning, that's just me," he said before the winner was announced at the pre-televised portion of the awards show. "I'm one that believes in exceeding people's expectations, so we'll see what happens next year."
