New pop sensation A*M*E has been announced as the special guest to Jessie J for both of her Eden Sessions shows on July 13 and 14.
The south London singer-songwriter (otherwise known as Aminata Kabba) had a number one last month (April) with the infectious Need U (100%), a collaboration with Duke Dumont and MNEK.
The 18-year-old was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone but moved to Catford when she was eight. A*M*E burst onto the UK music scene last year with tracks such as City Lights, Find A Boy and Play The Game Boy demonstrating her lively, dancehall- and electropop-inflected sound.
She has toured with Jessie J, JLS, Rizzle Kicks and Olly Murs and in December last year was nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2013 poll. A*M*E has also had a number one in Korea with a track she wrote for all girl K-Pop band FX. Her next single, entitled Heartless, is due to be released on June 23.
A*M*E said: "I've got a whole new stage show that I've been rehearsing so I'm really excited to have the chance to show it to people and to be supporting Jessie J. Can't wait!"
Rita Broe, Eden's Strategic Marketing Director, said: "The addition of A*M*E is the icing on the cake for our two final Sessions of the year. She's already had a number one single, has incredible talent and is obviously set for big things."
A*M*E will be taking to the stage after a new act from Cornwall or Devon has opened the show. Eden is running a competition for acts and Jessie J herself will have the final say on who will play on the main stage at Eden in front of nearly 12,000 people over two nights.
Acts can enter by sending a YouTube link showcasing one of their tracks, along with a contact phone number to: jessiejcomp@edenproject.com. Audio visual and audio formats within YouTube are acceptable. Video or audio file attachments will not be accepted as entries.
A shortlist of the best entries will be compiled by Eden Sessions promoter John Empson and top music writers Jackie Butler (Culture Editor of the Western Morning News) and Lee Trewhela (editor of the Cornish Guardian, West Briton and Cornishman's What's On supplement). Jessie J will then pick the winner from this shortlist.
The Eden Sessions are entering their 12th year in 2013. Headliners this year are Eddie Izzard (June 3), Kaiser Chiefs (June 29), Sigur Rós (June 30), The xx (July 2) and Jessie J (July 13 and 14).
Tickets to Jessie J and A*M*E's July 14 show are now sold out but a limited number are still available for the July 13 date costing £35 plus £5 booking fee. To book, contact the Eden Box Office on 01726 811972 or visit www.edensessions.com.
