Anne Hathaway To Reunite With Christopher Nolan For 'Interstellar'

Anne Hathaway is set to reunite with her "Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan for "Interstellar," the filmmaker's next project.

According to Deadline, the actress is finalizing a deal to star opposite Matthew McConaughey in the film, which is shrouded in secrecy but reportedly explores the possibility of time travel via wormholes in the space-time continuum.

Landing the role would be a real coup for Hathaway after winning Best Supporting Actress at the 2013 Academy Awards for her turn as Fantine in "Les Misérables." Although Nolan's box-office pedigree couldn't be better following his work on the "Dark Knight" trilogy (not to mention "Inception"), the role would test Hathaway's commercial appeal, which inspired dozens of editorials about her "likability" despite being one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. That said, McConaughey will also face that same test after last year's remarkable resurgence of popularity thanks to a spate of roles that demonstrated both his charm and versatility, from "Magic Mike" to "Killer Joe."

Following her work in "Les Misérables," Hathaway starred in Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, "Don Jon," and is set to reprise her role as Jewel in the upcoming animated sequel "Rio 2." The film would also mark her first foray into science-fiction.

Meanwhile, the project is set to reunite Nolan with another collaborator with whom he's had successful past partnerships: his brother Jonah. Steven Spielberg, who enlisted Jonah to write the script, first set up the project in 2006. And after their acclaimed collaborations on "Memento," the second and third Batman films, and "The Prestige," the promise of a reunion between Christopher and Jonah heralds great things.
